Synthesis and characterization of CrN/Mo2N multilayers and phases of Molybdenum nitride

چکیده
CrNx, MoNx, CrOx, MoOx and CrN/Mo2N multilayer films were deposited by reactive sputtering. Characterization of the coatings was carried out using XRD, XPS, optical profilometer, and nano-indentation. The oxidation of the thin films was studied as a function of annealing temperature. Tribological characterization of the Cr2O3 and the Mo-oxides was carried out as a function of annealing temperature. The low friction behavior of MoOx and MoNx was demonstrated. The deposition of CrNx and MoNx was also characterized and multilayer deposition of CrN and Mo2N was carried out. The hardness ofMo2N and CrN and the multilayers were shown to lie in the 20–30 GPa hardness regime. The multilayers are stable up to 500 °C in air and up to 1000 °C in argon. Initial friction testing on the multilayer coatings showed an activated self-lubricating mechanism. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

PROPERTIES OF MoNxOy THIN FILMS AS A FUNCTION OF N/O RATIO
The main purpose of this work consists on the preparation of single layered molybdenum oxynitride, MoNxOy. The films were deposited on steel substrates by dc reactive magnetron sputtering. The depositions were carried out from a pure Mo target varying the flow rate of reactive gases, which allowed tune the crystallographic structure between insulating oxides and metallic nitrides and consequent...

Effects of the synthesis parameters on the structural properties of molybdenum nitride catalysts, prepared by the temperatureprogrammed reaction of MoO3 with NH3, have been examined. Molybdenum trioxide was heated in flowing NH 3 through two linear heating segments (623 to 723 K then 723 to 973 K) with different space velocities in a 23 factorial design. The temperature limits for these heating...
متن کاملCombustion-aminolysis synthesis and characterization of CrN/Cu composites
CrN/Cu composite powders were synthesized by employing a novel two-step technique. Firstly, the Cr2O3+CuO precursors were prepared by the solution combustion synthesis (SCS) method using cupric nitrate, urea, and chromium nitrate as initial materials. Subsequently, the SCS precursors were calcined at 850 °C in NH3 for 6 h, and transformed to CrN/Cu composite powders. The composite powders consi...
